Update on Services in our Church Buildings

Thursday, 16th July 2020

I do hope you are all keeping well and managing to find moments of joy and gladness, even as we all continue to work out a way forward during these ever-changing circumstances. In view of the current restrictions and following consultation with both PCC’s please find below a provisional timetable for St Mary’s and St Barnabas for services for the next four weeks. We will let you know of any significant changes to this if they occur as soon as possible.

The majority of our services will remain online for the moment and in line with the government guidance, we would encourage you to join in with us in this way if at all possible. The capacity of each building has been significantly reduced due to the requirements of social distancing, so I would ask that we give priority in services at our church buildings to those who have struggled to access online content.

Keep safe, and God Bless

Lerys Campbell

General Guidance when at church

  • Please wash your hands/ use sanitiser provided when entering and exiting the building and whenever you have come into contact with items that others may have touched.
  • Please be considerate of others and make sure you read all signage and follow directions when in the church building.
  • There will be no singing in our church services and when using liturgical responses, we invite you to use a normal speaking voice rather than to shout or raise your voice.
  • Please observe the 2m social distancing rule wherever possible
  • Face masks are not currently mandatory in churches however please keep watching the news for any changes to this. You are welcome to wear a face mask if you would like to do so.
  • Services will be either on screen, or on single use service sheets which you must take away with you after the service to help with cleaning and reduce the potential for transmission.
  • The buildings will be cleaned before and after use and wherever possible we will be leaving 72 hours between events in the buildings to reduce the need for cleaning. – Where not possible a team of volunteer cleaners will wipe down surfaces, clean toilets etc after services.
  • The details of all those attending church services will be kept on file for 21 days to help with NHS track and trace procedures.

Midweek Services and Private Prayer

Daily Prayer will continue to be offered on Facebook 6 days a week but will also be offered in church and streamed online twice each week. We will be coinciding this with our new days for opening the buildings for Private prayer:

From Saturday 18th July
St. Barnabas will be open for Daily Prayer on Saturdays at 10am – in church and online (Ffald–y–brenin)- no singing. The building will remain open following this from 10:30 until 12 noon for private prayer.

From Wednesday 22nd July
