St Mary's Choir

The Choir

St Mary's choir was started in 1997 by a small group of Church members and since it's formation it has grown both in size and ability.

What experience do current members have?

[Choir Practice]

A typical choir practice

Our choristers are drawn from all sections of the community and range from beginners to proficient readers of music.

What experience do I need to join?

We aim to be inclusive. Everyone who is over 8 (i.e. Year 3 and above) and loves singing is most welcome. Previous experience is not required, however an ability to hold a tune and a keen desire to learn is essential.

When does the choir practice?

We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00pm in St Mary's Church. Rehearsals are followed by a time to socialise over tea and coffee in the church hall.

What services does the choir sing at?

[Carol Singing]

Carol Singing at a local supermarket

We sing at the 11.00am service in Church on the second, third, fourth and fifth Sundays of each month, plus major Church festivals. Additionally we sing at several Weddings during the course of the year, plus occasional concerts during Christmas and Summer. We break for holidays during August.

Is it fun?

Whether you are new to the area or to St Mary's, joining us is an excellent way to make new friends and to become involved in Church and Village life. We hold several social events throughout the year, such as our Summer party and New Year meal. Many new friendships have been formed within the choir.
